Madison worked hard that year taking care of me and our growing fetus and still found time to qualify for the Half-Ironman World Championship 70.3. I managed to convince my doctor to let me fly to Clearwater Florida at 36 weeks pregnant to be there to cheer Madison on. It was an awesome experience to watch Madison compete against the best triathletes in the world. Madison's parents and great friends Bryan and Christine Bridges were there also.
A week after we got back I started to get really swollen and we found out that the baby was breech. My doctor had suggested that the baby was breech 3 weeks earlier, but I dismissed it knowing that I was constantly getting my ribs kicked in. Well, the baby was kicking me in the ribs with its poor little legs pinned above its head. At 38 weeks I wanted to try to have the baby turned since I had my heart set on natural labor and a vaginal delivery....after all we read all those books, watched all those videos, and took all those classes. It didn't work and since my blood pressure was not so hot and my kidneys were showing signs of stress, we scheduled the c-section for the next day.
