Kegan's new trick

While visiting in Monticello, Kegan learned a new trick from her Uncle Steve Moreman. He is a master knee jiggler and Kegan just loved it. While jiggling, she discovered she could do really cool things with her voice and now does it anytime you jiggle her.

Our vacation comes to and end...8 months old today

Our vacation came to an end with a great visit with our old friends Ryan, Honey, and little Jacob George in West Monroe, LA. We met at El Chile Verde for a leisurely lunch....no I'm not addicted, I can quit anytime!! Really. We hadn't seen the Georges in years so it was a real special visit especially since there were only 2 of them last time. The kids were so cute together. We discussed the possiblility of an arranged marriage in their future but we couldn't come to terms how many cows and goats should be involved in the dowry.

The Georges

Check out those dimples. They are the best!

Going in for the first kiss! Honey said Jacob shouldn't be so agressive going in open mouth for the first one, ha! One day the idea of this will drive Madison insane. At least he can have fun with it now. Soon he'll be cleaning off his shotgun to chase off the boys.

Sunday afternoon

Our weekend visit continued with some hanging out with the family at Nana and Pop's house. Elliot, Oliver, and Alton did a great job of keeping Kegan entertained. She had a great time hanging out with them. Ashton was there and brought this great little jumping frog toy that he was nice enough to share with Kegan even though she did slober all over it.

Ashton the cutie. Are there any curls cuter than his?

Kegan smiling as she plays with her wonderful red-head cousins (Alton, Oliver, and Elliot)

Weekend in Mississipi

We had a great weekend in Mississippi visiting friends and family. Madison raced in the Heart of Dixie Triathlon in Philadelphia, MS on Saturday. Our trip began early Thursday morning. It was the longest trip with Kegan so far and she did great. We stopped for a long lunch in West Monroe, LA for a little break. I usually strategically plan to pass through Monroe at some mealtime so I can take advantage of eating at El Chile Verde. Madison says it is an illness....I just say it is knowing what is good food. There Kegan got her first taste of icecream. At first I think the cold was suprising, but after that first taste, she was hooked. Kegan and Madison were covered. Good thing they were outside eating it.

Ummmmmm! Ice Cream!

That is cold!

But sure is yummy!

Kelly, Meredith, and Kegan

We arrived in at Madison's parents home in Monticello, MS later that evening and all the family was there to greet us. Here is Meredith and Kelly with Kegan. Kelly was letting Kegan play with her new toy iron. We had a great dinner and everyone got to play with Kegan a little while before we sent her off to bed.....She has an unusually early bedtime of 6:30, but it is what works with our ridiculously early work schedule. We did let her stay up a little late....7ish or so.

The next morning, Kegan and I were off to Geyser Falls with Alex, Bobby, Meredith and her friend Lakin. Madison and his parents went to Philadelphia to meet his coach Jack Weiss to pick up race packets and go over the race course. They were working while we were having fun in the sun. Kegan loves water. The more splashing the better. They had a great kiddi area that she could have stayed in all day. Kristin (Madison's niece) and her son Ashton met us at the water park. We all had the best time.

Wow Mom, Look at me!

Meredith squeezing the spit-up out of Kegan.

Kegan was amazed at all the little water spouts in the little mini pools. She spent her time crawling from pool to pool and splashing. There were a couple of spit-up accidents, wouldn't be a day with Kegan without that. The chlorine should clean that out right?!

Friday night there was a dinner at the race start. It was a pretty special thing for us. Madison's coach Jack Weiss gave a talk about his experience racing in the Heart of Dixie triathlon many years ago. He raced the very first race in 1980. It was Jack's first triathlon ever. It was pretty significant for him because after that through a series of life experiences, Jack soon began a career in triathlons which her retired from the Air Force later to do. He is the founder and owner of Ironhead Race productions and currently puts on 25 races in the DFW area yearly. He has a team "Team Ironhead" which Madison is a member of. It was a great speech. Gives you a lot of perspective on the sport, how it has changed over the years and how it changes you as a person.

Our Saturday started early. Out at the race start by 5:30. Madison's good friend Bryan Bridges was racing so we got to spend time with him and his wife Christine.

Kegan with Poppy and Daddy before the race

Madison won the race edging the favorite out by 30 seconds. It was an exciting finish.

Madison and Jack both brought home hardware from the race for a great "Team Ironhead" presence at the race!

Madison and Bryan after an impressive finish by both. We are so proud of them.

7 months old....finally the present

This month, I am ready for my very own bike helmet. Mom and Dad bought me a bike trailer so I can go with them when they bike outside. It is so much fun. My seat is so cushy I can relax and nap while they do all the hard work.

This is me on a typical run with Mom at Trinity Park. It is exhausting. There is so much to see and do there. We get to wave to all the people on the kiddy train at the park. We also stop to say hi to all the ducks at the duck pond. We even get to see racoons and cats eating at the cat feeding place.

This video is the beginning of the crawl. To start I'm just leaning forward than back to sitting, but I'm getting so close. A week after this video was taken, I perfected the crawl. I'm discovering cool things like electrical sockets, computer cords. There is so much neat stuff out there. The world gets bigger every day.

On this day, Kegan went to the doctor for yet another ear infection....this made 4 in 4 months. That bought her an ENT consult. She is scheduled for ear tubes on August 22. I had to post this picture becuase it was so sweet. I stopped at the store after the doctor visit, and this is what I found when I got home. The two of them just melt my heart.

Paran Aaron was in town this weekend hunting for an apartment. He is moving here next month after he graduates from LSU!! He will be working as a project administrator at Daddy's company, MEDCO Construction. Mom had to work Sunday, so it was me with Daddy and Paran. In the morning Daddy volunteered at a kids triathlon in Dallas, so I got to spend some quality time with Paran at the race. It was cool to see all the kids racing and being cheered on by their families. I may have to try that someday. We had such a great time playing all day. They are so silly. They were cracking me up. I think I may have my Dad's giggle disease. As you can see I have giggle fits just like him. After we played and played and played, we went to have lunch with Mom at the hospital. It is such a treat to see her during the day. I love playing with her funny hat she has to wear at work.

Look at me now. I am a big girl sitting up on my own!
Back in the pool. It is so much more fun now that I can sit up and play.

Daddy turns the big 3-0! He's an old man.
We finished off the month with a trip to Shreveport. Madison and Frannie did a triathlon there. Madison won overall and Fran took 2nd in her age group. We were so glad Jen and the kids came. Nana was there of course too. We had a great time hanging out.

Look they are twins. Nevermind that one is 6 months old and the other is 14 months old. Ava and Kegan laugh and cry together. They were so cute!

Cousin Ava shared her Cheerios with me while we watched Daddy race. She is so nice.

Daddy with his 2 prizes after the race.

The month started off with Cousin Leslie graduating from UNT. This is her with her brothers Jeff and Matt.

The next day I got to spend some quality time with Leslie. We even color coordinated.

I took Nana Autin, Paran Aaron, and Pawpa out to have dinner at Texas de Brazil. They bring around all these different cuts of meat. We ate ourselves sick. It was great!

That is the fanciest glass Pawpa has ever had Coke out of. Doesn't he look so sophisticated.

his weekend I started thinking about sitting up. Mom and Dad bought me this little pool that the bottom inflates. It is better cushion for when I fall over. We'll try water later. For now I'll just play in it with my ball.

I keep practicing sitting. I almost have the hang of it, but still need the boppy for a little support. Dad and a friend are biking on their trainers. Me and Mommy are sitting watching them and playing.

Now for the fun stuff. I finally got to have water in my pool. It was so much fun. This is so much better than the bathtub.

Is it raining in here?

Minnie enjoyed it too. I shared my pool water with her.

Daddy that's too much!

The after pool party! It's hard work having this much fun.

Since I did so good in my pool. For Memorial Day, Dad took me in a big pool.

The month started off with learning to sit up on the sofa. It is a much better angle for TV watching.

I am turning out to be a really happy baby. I smile at just about everything and everybody. Also check out how chubby I'm getting. Mommy is feeding me cereal now. I'm not too good at it yet, but we're working on it.

We went on another plane trip to visit cousin Ava and Evan for their birthdays. Ava let me borrow her "johnny jumpup" I mostly twirled around on one foot, haven't quite gotten the jump down yet.

This is cousin Evan and his cool fishing cake

Ava enjoyed her cake a lot! She is a bit of a mess though.

I got to meet my great-grandma's. They are so wonderful. I had the best time talking to them and Nana Autin.

I am learning how to use this bumbo seat thing. I like it because it gives me better access to all these hanging toys. I am learning that these toys are not just to look at. They are fun to touch and taste too.

Some more fun time in the Bumbo. If you sit in it just right, it's sort of like a recliner. Perfect for watching TV with Dad.

Dad did his first duathlon of the season. It involved a short roadtrip to Waco. Mom and I had a great time watching. There were so many people with colorful jerseys on. I had a great time people watching.....when I wasn't napping of course.

I continue to run with Mommy in the babyjogger. We have such a great time. The weather is getting warmer and I now can sport this really cool sunhat.

It's Easter. I got to wear a beautiful dress Aunt Alex made for me. You can't see it because Mom put this bib on me. Something about me spitting up on my pretty dress before we made it to Mrs. Bertha's for Easter dinner. My Nana Autin bought me this really cute bonnet, but I wasn't too crazy about it. It made my head all sweaty.
