The Texas Country Reporter Festival

Since it was a beautiful Saturday and we had nothing planned to do, we ended up at the Texas Country Reporter festival in Waxahachie, TX. It is about a 40 minute drive from us. Madison and I attended 2 years ago and there were some pretty neat vendors there. The town is pretty neat too. Some really nice old homes. So we called up Uncle Aaron and we were off shortly after lunch. One of the first things we came to was a horse to pet. Kegan wasn't very thrilled about it at all to my disappointment. I thought she would think it was a really big dog or something....because she really likes to pet dogs and cats.

Reluctant to pet the horse

Do I really have to touch this thing?

Ooooh, that's really soft, like a really good pillow!

On this one we learned that it is true that when you lean on a horse, it leans back.

Next, we were off to find the kettle corn. The kettle corn here is possibly some of the best in the world. We ate some of that and washed it down with a huge glass of sweet tea. Both of these Kegan enjoyed thoroughly. Then we moved on the the New York hotdog guy. This guy came today with 1,000 dogs and at 4:00, we were buying 2 of the last 5. I would never eat a hotdog with onions or sauerkraut, but for some reason it all goes beautifully on his dogs. He runs a little stand off some random highway and people come for miles to get his dogs...for good reason too. As Kegan's first hotdog....she absolutely loved it. What is it with kids and hotdogs? I got 2 bits of mine and she ate the rest.

Shoveling it in

Impatience!!

Little Miss Piggy!!

Finally slowing down, really, how much can that tummy hold?

She even enjoyed chewing on the foil wrapper, that was good and all until we realized she was gnawing little bits off with her piranha chompers.

Protesting that I took her foil away for the picture.

Fall Festival Fun

Friday night was Fall Festival at Kegan's daycare. We were a little concerned because it started at 6:30 which is Kegan's bedtime. We couldn't miss it though because it was her first opportunity to wear her Halloween costume.....which is really cute. To help combat the screaming meanies, we headed to Chili's for a great supper. Kegan loves the mushroom jack fajitas. She ate three strips of chicken and a bunch of mushrooms. She also downed a cup of squash I brought from home. And of course, no Chili's meal is complete without chocolate molten cake......yummy!!! We all helped devour it.....I think Kegan ate the most. By the time we got back to school, Kegan was getting pretty tired, so it took a lot of effort to get her interested in anything.....especially posing for pictures.

Refusing to look at the camera....too much other stuff to look at!

I promise Kegan did eat a bunch, but the belly is part of the costume.

Finally a few smiles!

Again, not looking at the camera.

Kegan finally looks at the camera, but Daddy isn't....can't win.

Fall Fun!!

Today Madison and I finally m et with a lawyer to have our last will and testament done.....It was suprisingly easy. We were referred to a great lawyer by our financial advisior. We were in and out in about 30 minutes....whew! Since it went by so fast, we had the rest of the afternoon to spend with our "cutie pie". The weather was gorgeous, so we headed to the park down our street. Kegan enjoyed the swing first. There was a rogue neighborhood dog chasing a rabbit in the woods, so we figured it safer to keep her off the ground. Swinging was fun until she started trying to escape.

Wheeeeee!

This is fun!

Planning her escape!

What, I'm not doing anything?

Sitting in the rocks.

Oooooh, pretty!

Tasty!

Want some?

Why can't I eat them? They look so good.

Time to go! Tired baby.

So you think you can dance Dallas!

Friday night Madison happened on some tickets from work to the "So You Think You Can Dance" tour. We were so grateful that Aunt Sherry was able to babysit last minute....a thousand thanks to you!!!! It was really nice. A dry wall sub from Madison's work had a suite rented and it was catered by Wolfgang Puck. We had our own private balcony to watch from. It was really neat. The pictures aren't that great since we were a good distance from the stage, but there were big jumbotrons that you could see better from. It was a great show.

Saturday I had to work, so it was a long day for me especially after staying up late for the show. I survived and made it home in time to see Madison giving Kegan her bath. Who is this curly headed kid in the picture?

Sunday, Madison got to watch Kegan while I tried to take a small nap. I had to go into work that night. I don't usually work nights, but I had to switch with someone to have Monday off to go with Madison to get his cancer cut out of his neck.....by the way, it went fine. So while I was napping, Madison decided to fold some clothes and as you can see, Kegan helped.

Dressed up at the doctor!!

Today Kegan and I spent the day on the town running errands. We started off trying to finally get professional pictures of Kegan for Halloween. I had her all dudded up in a super cute Halloween outfit her Aunt Alex made. We started off by stopping in at Nordstroms to get Kegan a black pair of shoes to wear with her outfit. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a black non patent leather shoe in a size 3. No one makes plain shoes anymore. After we had the outfit complete we headed to Babies R Us only to find out the next sitting available was after her doctor's appointment. Not knowing how'd she look after he tortured her, we opted for Sunday instead. We did however, find lots of other things at Babies R Us to keep us occupied. Actually, the doctor thing turned out great. Kegan got her tear duct stent removed. I snapped a few pictures in the office while we waited. She did really well. We were out of there in 15 minutes. The doctor just made silly noises and quickly yanked the stent out with a tweezer....that's all. No fussing or crying. I don't know why she's so good for Dr. Norman. I need a straight jacket just to get her eye drops in. Thank goodness we only have to do that for 3 days this time.

This was the first picture attempt with her in my arms. As you can see my arms just weren't long enough to get all of Kegan in the picture.

Kegan was real excited when I sat her in the chair by herself!!

But then we started playing and it was all better.

This is Kegan playing the sharing game. She likes to hand stuff back and forth and say "thank you" or her version of it which sounds more like "ta".

More playing around.

I finally got her distracted enough to quickly put her bow back in. I think she knew something was up....what do you think?

She enjoyed looking out the window and pulling at the blinds while waiting...also a favorite past time at home.

Officially ready for Dr. Norman full of all her cuteness!

Since the stent pulling was really nothing, her eye looks totally normal. She had a little extra tearing for a few hours, but looks great. Now we get to battle her at home to put drops in....yeah! And, Kegan is teething again. Isn't she too young for molars? She has been chewing on all her sippies, toys, and pacifiers today. She even got one of her first good spankings for biting me really hard on the face....it was the only way I got her to let go! She was giving sweet kisses, then decided to go piranha on me....geeze!

Big Girl

We had another productive weekend. Saturday morning we started off early with a run at Lake Grapevine's Horseshoe Trail. Me and Kegan put in 5 miles and Madison about 14.....I know, he's sick that way. It was great to have Kegan with me, she sang and cheered me on the whole way. I really needed motivation to make it up those hills. Everyone would just laugh and smile as we passed by, they could all hear us coming with Kegan's singing. She was so cute. When we got home Aaron and Madison worked on the sunporch. We are finally moving the computrainers out of our bedroom. It'll be much better when our friends are over riding, not to be sweating and stinking up our bedroom anymore. I'll post pictures when it is done.

Today Kegan really showed off how much of a big girl she is becoming. She ate chicken for lunch and fish for dinner. She actually enjoyed her finger foods more than the pureed for a change! She even looked like such a big girl in the pictures I took. Tonight I got a special treat and was able to bathe Kegan and put her to sleep while Madison mowed the lawn. I could not believe that when I went to undress her for her bath, she actually stepped each leg out of her shorts. I almost cried! That is a big girl thing. She's too little to do that, right? Madison said she started doing that last week and forgot to tell me!!! Wonder what else he's forgotten?

Happy with a full tummy after dinner

What do you suppose I'll do with this?

Oooooh, when I bite it, it lights up!

Silly towel head

The real big girl (doesn't she look sooooo old)

Showin off those teeth again

clap-happy fun

My sweet blue eyes!

Oh, my, almost forgot the biggest news of all! Friday Kegan started saying "Mama". The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time Madison and I were on the phone as he drove home from work and he witnessed it. She has been saying it all weekend. I am soooo excited!

A day at home with Mommy

Today I had the day off, so Kegan and I just hung out. Here are some candids from our day. Kegan never quite got the hand of a sippy, but she does really well with a straw sippy.

My sweetie just chillin

I think I remember how to work this thing

I think if you suck really hard, it works!?

Check out those TEETH!!

Today I went get my hair cut and there is a store Zoe and Jack, that I just can't resist. There is always something that Kegan just has to have!!!! Today it was a hat to go with her new flower coat. Nevermind that Madison pointed out that the whole point of the coat was the flower hood.....he sucks! He never goes along with my excuses when I buy Kegan unnecessary really cute things. Gayden, you'll have to talk with him!

Kegan's Paran attempting to help her pose for the camera!

Diva that she is, does a much better job on her own!

She is so sweet, I could just eat her up sometimes
